Last weekend the Central Oregon Builders Association held their annual tour of homes, many of which were located throughout the greater Bend area.
For homes in the $400,000 to $500,000 price range there was one house in particular that swept a large share of the awards.

Built by Westbrook Homes, this house received the 2007 Best of Show, Best Value ($400K-500K price range), Best Special Feature, Best Master Suite, Best Interior Design and Best Landscaping Awards—that’s 6 out of 8 possible awards.
Hundreds of people toured the home over the weekend and from the comments I overheard they were equally impressed, especially after seeing the large, beautifully landscaped backyard with its custom-built pond and patio.

Inside the house there are so many custom upgrades that it feels like a luxury home. Compared to some of the multi-million dollar properties on the market, this home seems to have the same special features, just on a smaller scale.
Some of those features include hickory hardwood floors, surround sound speakers in every room, air conditioning, central vacuum system, a theater room with 7 speakers and a subwoofer, and beautiful custom tile in the master suite with two zones of radiant heat—one for the main floor and one for the floor of the 7′x4′ shower which also includes a heated shower seat.

And no matter where you are in the house, spacious rooms and extensive lighting make this home bright and inviting.
The house itself is found in Westbrook Village Phase Three, in front of two irrigation canals and a large space of land that currently has no buildings on it. I’m told that people from the neighborhood often take advantage of trails there.
Westbrook Village has many more new homes of equal quality and is conveniently close to Costco, the hospital, movie theaters, and several coffee shops. It’s located on the far east side of town only minutes from downtown Bend.
